Belgian company Inventive Designers, announced it has geared its proprietary Scriptura document solution to Google Docs. This enables newly created documents to be instantaneously presented to any others involved who are meant to review or amend the document or to act upon it. Documents created in Scriptura v6, such as contracts, purchase orders, confirmations and reports can now be automatically generated from data from the back-end systems (such as a CRM or ERP system or other data sources) and be used as a Google Document without manual intervention. This enables stakeholders who are required to view, amend, edit or jointly work on documents, to be informed, by e-mail for instance. http://www.inventivedesigners.com/

Canto announced that Cumulus 7.6.1 is available for immediate download with many improvements, while other updates were included to ease the transition to the architectural updates coming in the company's next product release, Cumulus 8. One of the product's new capabilities is the ability for Cumulus to send automated email notifications when category assignments are made or changed. This enables organizations who use Cumulus categories for project management (in addition to digital asset management) to keep selected employees up to date as assets move through their development pipelines. Enhanced metadata support is now available for Microsoft Visio. When Visio files are cataloged, their entire text contents can be extracted and saved as searchable metadata by Cumulus. InDesign CS4 is now supported by Cumulus InDesign plug-in, which ships with all Cumulus servers. Also newly supported is the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM), a specification of the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative. http://www.canto.com

WoodWing Software has released Enterprise 6, the latest version of the company's content publishing platform. Equipped with a new editing application called "Content Station", Enterprise 6 offers article planning tools, direct access to any type of content repository, and integrated Web delivery functionality. Content Station allows users to create articles for delivery to the Web, print, and mobile devices, and offers out-of-the-box integration with the open-source Web content management system Drupal. Content Station works with Enterprise's new server plug-ins to allow users to search, select, and retrieve content stored in other third-party repositories such as digital asset management systems, archives, and wire systems. Video, audio, and text files can then be collected into "dossiers", edited, and set for delivery to a variety of outputs, all from a single user-interface. A built-in XML editor lets authors create documents intended solely for digital output. The content planning application lets managers assign content to users both inside and outside of the office. Enterprise's Web publishing capabilities feature a direct integration with Drupal. Content authors click on a single button to preview or deliver content directly to Drupal and get information such as page views, ratings, and comments back from the Web CMS. And if something needs to be pulled from the site, editors can simply click "Unpublish". They don't have to contact a separate Web editor or navigate through another system's interface. The server plug-in architecture also allows for any other Web content management system to be connected. http://www.woodwing.com/

Open Text announced availability of the latest release of Open Text Web Solutions. This new release offers a number of additional enhancements to the core of Open Text Web Solutions: Helping customers translate, manage and synchronize multiple websites worldwide. The enhanced functionality is part of a complete solution called Open Text Web Solutions for Multi-Sites that aids in developing a global Web presence. It helps large enterprises leverage existing translation memory tools such as Across Systems or SDL TRADOS, and to personalize the user experience. For small and mid-size businesses, it provides a tool for expanding globally. For organizations with a global presence, Web Solutions for Multi- Sites adds new content distribution services that make it easier for Web localization teams to share and update content via a centralized content pool. Once localized content is added to this pool all countries that use the same language can use this content for their local websites. A new Content Translation Management module offers translation workflow integration, expanded support for computer-aided translation tools, and export to standardized XLIFF formats. XLIFF, which stands for XML Localization Interchange File Format, streamlines the exchange of localization data among companies, vendors and across software tools. http://www.opentext.com

MadCap Software announced that the MadCap Feedback Server 2.0 is now available. The MadCap Feedback Server is a server-based feedback system for content development teams that provides Web 2.0 features, such as blog-style comments and topic rating, to enable collaboration among team members and the readers of their documentation. It is part of the MadCap Software documentation family, a suite of products designed to provide a complete content workflow solution, from authoring and casual contribution; to multi-channel publishing of high-end print, online and multimedia content; to content analysis, localization, and collaboration. In addition to enhancing interactions for authors and readers, the MadCap Feedback Server 2.0 also provides enhancements to facilitate management and reporting. The ability to separate the Microsoft SQL Server underlying the Feedback Server from the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) machine means documentation teams are no longer limited to having the database on the same server that is hosting the Feedback Web services. With version 2.0, authors can now reset the topic view, topic rating, and search statistics when they want in order to view only the new statistics. The MadCap Feedback Server 2.0 can be deployed onsite or is available as the hosted MadCap Feedback Service. The Madcap Feedback Server 2.0 is currently being offered at an introductory price of $1,799 per server product license (each product license includes multiple Feedback target licenses for authors to use). The MadCap Feedback Service is offered in increments of 3, 6, or 12 months, with prices starting at $399 for a 3-month subscription. Fees for support start at $799 per year. http://www.madcapsoftware.com/

The W3C XML Schema Working Group has published the Last Call Working Drafts of "W3C XML Schema Definition Language (XSD) 1.1 Part 1: Structures" and "Part 2: Datatypes." This former specifies the XML Schema Definition Language, which offers facilities for describing the structure and constraining the contents of XML documents, including those which exploit the XML Namespace facility. The schema language, which is itself represented in an XML vocabulary and uses namespaces, substantially reconstructs and considerably extends the capabilities found in XML document type definitions (DTDs). The latter defines facilities for defining datatypes to be used in XML Schemas as well as other XML specifications.
Day Software (SWX:DAYN)(OTCQX:DYIHY) announced the availability of three new licensed editions of CRX, Day's JSR-170-compliant Java Content Repository (JCR). These new editions make it simpler for companies to standardize on an enterprise-ready content infrastructure based on Day's commercial implementation of Apache Jackrabbit and Apache Sling. This release is enhanced by a licensing model that promotes adoption by individual developers, departments and global enterprises. Day now offers three targeted editions of its content infrastructure platform: CRX One: CRX One is a new version of CRX licensed for use to power a single Web application. CRX One is Day's entry-level CRX offering, available directly from Day's Web site for an annual subscription license fee of US$18,500 per server instance per year, regardless of the number of CPUs; CRX Developer: CRX Developer is a limited license version of CRX available free of charge for Apache Jackrabbit and Apache Sling developers directly from Day's Web site. Web developers can use CRX Developer at no cost under an annual renewal license for building and testing new CRX-based content applications; CRX Enterprise: CRX Enterprise is Day's premier CRX offering for use in powering multiple Web applications. CRX Enterprise is targeted for IT departments looking to consolidate disparate enterprise content repositories under a single, shared cluster of CRX. Organizations can seamlessly update their CRX One licenses to CRX Enterprise to host multiple applications without installing or managing new software. CRX Enterprise is offered under a perpetual license model that starts at US$50,000 per server instance. Day CRX Developer is available free of charge immediately from Day's Web site at http://www.day.com

Exalead announced the availability of CloudView OEM Edition 5.0, an embeddable, scalable search and information application development platform designed specifically for ISVs and SaaS providers. In conjunction with this release, Exalead also announced a new OEM pricing framework. E- mail archiving, content management, product life-cycle management, storage, call center and other information management application vendors can now use Exalead CloudView technology to address the Web 2.0-based information access application market. Exalead CloudView 5.0 addresses the following design requirements encountered by information software vendors: large amounts of data (petabytes); ability to aggregate, collate, and normalize data gathered from disparate structured and unstructured sources - HTML, Microsoft Office documents and other files scattered across corporate servers, data located at SaaS providers, active and archived e-mail, relational data, proprietary application data, etc.; web-based (fuzzy) and enterprise (precise) relevancy models; small CPU and disk footprints; large, difficult-to-forecast user volumes; high peak user concurrency; transparently supporting existing user interfaces, security models and data sources; multiple language support (50+ languages supported). http://www.Exalead.com

Recommind announced the availability of MindServer Search 6.0, the latest version of its enterprise search product. Built on Recommind's CORE platform (Context Optimized Relevancy Engine), the latest version adds features such as enhanced relevancy tuning and extends the system's federated search framework. MindServer Search 6.0 is built on Recommind's CORE platform, an automated information management layer which integrates structured and unstructured data inside and outside of enterprise networks. MindServer Search 6.0 allows enterprises to boost certain search results based on select properties of a document, including: freshness, rank, specific metadata and document length. Search results can feature 'Best Bets' which are preselected files linked to particular queries. Also available is a 'Sponsored Links' feature, which brings external or indexed documents to the user's attention through specific queries, but places them outside of the standard search results area. In addition, users can choose to boost results based on their individual profile or that of their team. MindServer Search 6.0's federated search capabilities enable users to search across internal and external data sources with one query. http://www.recommind.com

By implementing its proprietary forum CMS CrowdReport, CrowdGather immediately increases a particular site's visual appeal to members, visitors, and advertisers. More importantly, the CMS enhances the user-experience by converting user-generated content into zero-cost editorial content for the site. CrowdGather expects to have deployed the CMS on its busiest sites by the end of February. http://www.crowdgather.com

Author-it announced Author-it 5.2, is now available and includes a number of new features including structured authoring. Author-it's practical approach to structured authoring means this can be implemented gradually for both existing and new documentation as priorities and deadlines allow. If you are already on Author-it 5 and have current maintenance, you will be able to download 5.2 via the client portal My Author-it. If you are on version 4 you will need to work through the Upgrading to 5 process, complete acceptance testing and obtain a license file prior to commencing the upgrade. http://www.author-it.com
